
Samsung wanted to elevate the experience of its retail application to better stand out in busy store environments and capture the attention of shoppers interacting with devices on display. The goal was to create something more engaging than a traditional product demo—an experience that would immediately draw customers in and encourage them to explore Samsung’s features and capabilities.
To achieve this, I proposed a concept that combined video storytelling with an interactive application experience. The idea was to begin with a dynamic introductory video designed to attract attention from across the retail floor. Once a customer picked up the device or interacted with the screen, the experience would transition seamlessly into the interactive application. During the concept presentation to Samsung, I outlined how professionally produced footage could showcase real people using Samsung products and features in everyday scenarios, helping customers better understand the value of the technology in a relatable way.
After the concept was approved, I assembled and led a multidisciplinary team that included designers, motion graphics artists, and application developers to bring the project to life. Working in partnership with the production company Yes Go Productions, we conducted casting sessions to select actors and coordinated multiple location shoots across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The production captured a wide range of lifestyle scenarios designed to highlight Samsung’s key features and product capabilities.
The filmed footage was then integrated directly into the retail application, allowing customers to explore content through categorized experiences within the interface. Users could browse and select videos that demonstrated specific features or product benefits, creating an engaging blend of cinematic storytelling and interactive product exploration.
The project proved highly successful in retail environments, delivering an experience that captured attention while educating customers about Samsung’s technology in an intuitive and visually compelling way. The impact of the work led Samsung to commission five total applications based on the concept, each with production budgets ranging from $650,000 to $1,000,000.
