This is an image of a cabinet designed by Hans J. Wegner, 1956, Denmark.
I’ve been in a new position for the past three months, and it’s fascinating to see how design thinking varies from company to company. I often find myself comparing the focus on functional components versus efforts to surprise and delight users. It feels like everything has already been done, with a lot of copying and repurposing rather than true innovation.
Fresh, exciting ideas are needed, but they rarely seem to be a priority. I wish more companies would dedicate time or establish teams specifically for innovation and forward-thinking projects.
