UX Thinking In The Real World.

A few weeks ago I was invited to a soft opening of a new restaurant about half an hour north of downtown. I was shown how the customers can come right in and use a large touch screen to put in their orders for dining in or take-out. While I was being shown the interface I had so many questions about the user experience. The person who was showing me demo thought it was interesting that I was asking those questions and I then had to stop and realize I what I was doing. Before I stopped asking the questions the host also started explaining how and why the experience was designed the way it was.

I felt less awkward.
